ATS clients have now been migrated to Exchange 2003. This service includes Help Center Outlook support, web access to mail, and access to ISU voice mail through Outlook (integrated messaging). Exchange rates will remain the same as last fiscal year starting at $4/month for up to 100MB, an increase from the current 50MB of storage. There continues to be a $2/month charge for each additional 25MB of storage. This change will go into effect with the new 2005-06 fiscal year, beginning July 1, 2005.
The method for calculating costs of e-reports on AccessPlus will be changed from a per-page cost to disk usage cost. This will allow clients to take full advantage of e-report access methods without adversely affecting charges. This change will be retroactive to July 2004 and any credits will appear on the March 2005 statement.
August 2, 2004
Beginning Monday, August 9, hours of operation for ADIN/ISUAS will be extended from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The new hours for ADIN will be 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday - Saturday.
Also beginning August 9, hours of operation for three AccessPlus applications will be extended from 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The new hours for WebReg, Residence Halls/Step Inside, and Bill Pay will be 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., Monday - Saturday.
Normal batch processing hours are unaffected by this change.
July 1, 2004
Beginning with the July 2004 billing cycle, general university accounts (701) will not be directly charged by NetID for ADIN usage. These general university accounts will have a one time reallocation of funds that will transfer to ATS, and clients will no longer see a recurring monthly ADIN charge.
Non-general university accounts (i.e., 102, 103, 109, 200's, 400's, 602, 603, and 620) will continue to be billed as they currently are with the monthly rate based on last year's calendar usage. For the 2005 fiscal year, however, ATS is looking for an alternate way to bill the non-general university accounts. The plan currently under consideration is to bill by total transactions for the department rather than by NetID, allowing departments to add or remove a Net-ID throughout the year without adjusting their recurring costs.
All university employees, regardless of fund-account, with workstations currently supported by ATS without ADIN, can be added to the system without a setup fee. Employees with workstations not supported by ATS without ADIN can be added to the system for a $50 setup fee. If you want to activate or inactivate ADIN access for a NetID, use the Access Request Form.
Costs for client station support and hardware maintenance will be as follows.
$20/month desktop support for equipment under hardware warranty (36 months warranty). This cost includes support of the workstation, monitor or laptop; installs and moves of these workstations, monitors, or laptops; and installs of supported software and peripherals.
$40/month desktop support and hardware maintenance for equipment out of warranty (37 months and older). This cost includes support and maintenance of the workstation, monitor or laptop; installs and moves of these workstations, monitors, or laptops; and installs of supported software and peripherals.
Some of the enhancements to desktop support now included:
Novell, the software vendor for file and print servers, has changed their licensing fee structure. The new monthly license fee is $3/month per workstation and will be added to the current $10/month client network support cost.
According to a new university policy, ATS will apply a 1.75% surcharge for all hardware purchased or leased by the client starting with the July 16-August 15, 2004 billing period. Please refer to the Procurement website.
The surcharge will be added as a separate line item on the summary or last page of the ATS billing. The class code is 678-00 Hazardous Materials Surcharge. This surcharge cost is not included in the ATS billing totals. ATS lists the costs as the last item titled 'Non-ATS incurred charges' so that you can reconcile it when it appears on your department statement or on the FM system as a separate cost.
When a client leases hardware from ATS, the 1.75% of the total cost of the hardware will be billed as a one-time charge the first month of a 36-month lease that is billed to the client for that hardware. It will also appear under 'Non-ATS incurred charges' on the billing summary page, class code 678-00 Hazardous Materials Surcharge.
Software purchased through ATS will NOT have this surcharge.

The Iowa State University (ISU) Administrative Data Processing (ADP) Center is changing its name. Beginning July 1, 2003, the ADP Center is changing its name to Administrative Technology Services. This change is due in part to a client survey conducted last year. Many respondents confused the department name with the external company ADP (Automatic Data Processing), and clients view the name, Administrative Data Processing, as outdated and not reflective of the ADP Center's services.
The ADP Center partners with clients to develop and support administrative systems containing university, departmental, employee, and student information. Some of the student systems include registration, transcripts, housing, and financial aid, all accessible through AccessPlus. Some of the administrative systems the ADP Center provides include human resources, payroll, electronic forms, financial, purchasing, and travel. In addition to these administrative information systems and services, the ADP Center also offers workstation and server acquisition and support, Exchange e-mail, help center support, and software training. To find out more about services and equipment, please contact the ADP Center by phone (515 294-2126), fax (515 294-0290), or email ats@iastate.edu.
As Administrative Technology Services, clients can expect the same quality and variety of services they have come to know and expect from the ADP Center. As part of the university, the ADP Center has been a leader in administrative technology services for the university community for over 50 years.
