Establishing a New Scholarship
A "New Scholarship Information Form" must be filled out to establish a new scholarship.
- ISU Foundation will initiate if it is funded with private gift support. Copy of form is sent to department with other documentation regarding the new account.
- ISU Department should initiate if the scholarship is not funded with private gift support.
- This form must be completed prior to the awarding of funds.
- This form also compiles information the Office of Student Financial Aid needs to provide to President Geoffroy.
Scholarships - Demonstrating Financial Need
There is only one way to demonstrate financial need at ISU:
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid
- OSFA can grant you access to their database.
- Call OSFA and they can look it up for you.
- Send an e-file to OSFA and they will get back to you.
- "I need a scholarship" DOES NOT meet the donor's intent.
Scholarships - Freshman Awards
OSFA has a very aggressive schedule for the recruitment of new freshman:
- For effective recruitment, they would like to make a complete and total offer for the student's aid, which includes:
- Federal,
- State,
- College or departmental.
- OSFA would like to have this information by mid-March.
- The freshman award's target date is April 1st.
Scholarships - Student Aid Award Form
All monies on the "Scholarship Award Form" are counted as student financial aid.
- DO NOT use if paying a student for work performed. See the Payroll office for paying a student.
- ISU Administrator is responsible for MOA compliance as OSFA does not see or have a copy of the MOA.
- A prize is a gift and must be included on the Scholarship Award Form.
